OCTOBER 23rd 2007 UPDATE
Sue has been ridden a few more times on the trail and in the ring.
She continues to be dependable and predictable.
She is suitable for any rider who will follow instruction.
She is good on the trails - likes to walk fast  and is very light on the mouth.

SEPTEMBER 14th 2007 UPDATE.
Sue was on a long trail ride again today.  She did very well with only very minor barn sour issues, basically amounting to a couple of turns in circles to establish that she was not going to be going back home just yet, after which she was calm and willing.   Sue is alert on the trail, but not does not seem to spook very easily -  her ground manners have improved tremendously and she is easy to work with and easy to handle.

SEPTEMBER 8th 2007 UPDATE.
We worked Sue in the riding arena today.  She was very willing to do everything we asked at a walk and a trot.  We did not ask her to lope today, but rather left things on a good note by quitting while she was doing everything perfectly.  Previously when asked to trot in the ring was when she would refuse and act up.  Today, after all the longe work and trail riding we have done with her  the past two weeks she was willing and eager to comply with all that we asked.
She is really improving quickly.
She is a very sweet mare with very minor problems.
We are still offering her for sale for $1250 for a fast fall sale, but if we keep this mare until spring we will be asking $1800.
She's got looks, temperament, soundness, color - everything except registration.
A real steal for someone this fall.
She is suitable for all but complete beginner riders.

SEPTEMBER 6th 2007 UPDATE.
We took Sue on a long strenuous trailride - through water, up and down steep embankments, along the highway, etc.  She was willing and easy to get along with the whole time.  She is improving in her balking (barn sour) when she is alone as well, but will take a little more time to get her over it completely.   We've spent lots of time on ground work, longing, ground driving, etc. and it is paying off.   She is also very predictable.

AUGUST 15th 2007

This is a very pretty mare.  The pictures do not do her justice.  She is very well built and is broke to ride.  She does neck rein.  Although she was quite spoiled when we got her, it is obvious she had some very good training and was well started.  She is rapidly coming out of her problem behaviors and now stands nicely when saddled, bridled and we are continually working on her to get her to stand still for  mounting, which she is starting to get the hang of.
She longes very well. She moves her front end very well.  she is very athletic and would do well in reining or barrels.  We are still working on her rear end movement.   We are continuing to work through some other minor issues like balking and poor ground manners.   She is currently offered for sale at $1250, but as she progresses, which she is doing rapidly, her price will go up.
This is a very nice mare - she is very responsive and the previous poor handling she received does not seem to be very firmly ingrained in her behavior patterns yet.  She is starting to eagerly step out when asked.  Her poor ground manners were mainly that she would not walk on a loose shank and would invade personal space.  She is rapidly coming around.
She has been on two trail rides this last week, the first about an hour, the second about 6 hours.  There was very marked improvement on her behavior after the second trail ride.  She follows along with other horses very willingly, crosses water easily and is starting to behave better and better when asked to leave the group.
Is walking and trotting nicely and just has a few minor issues with being a wee bit barn sour.
Currently offered for sale at a very good price of $1250.

WE DO TAKE PARTIAL TRADES ON ALL OF OUR HORSES - WE ARE ESPECIALLY INTERESTED IN OLDER BROKE HORSES AND PONIES.
