Hi Sharalee,
Gunner is doing very well. He is a real good retriever.  He loves hunting and loves going in the boat with me and Bonnie fishing, I'm sending you a few pictures of him at home and in the field, hes a big boy, he weighs about 114lbs and he is very cuddly with us in bed. Actually both of our dogs are, but mostly him, he always wants the attention and don't you worry he barks very loud to let you know. But he's doing fine, we love him sooooooooo much!!!!!   I'm looking for a female to breed with him, do you know of anybody? Let me know. Bye for now and well keep in touch.   October 2006

Hi Sharalee,
It is so nice to hear from you.  I hope all is well at your new place.  Zak is doing great!  He weighs 90 lbs and is an absolutely beautiful dog.  Spoiled rotten, but beautiful.  He is tall and slim and strong as an ox.  We were just saying this morning that he should have been a hunting dog because his instincts to hunt are so dominant.  I have to say he has never done any damage in the house what so ever, or in the yard for that matter.

We lost our 3 year old Mick in May of this year.  It turned out Mick had Wobbler disease.  We tried everything we could think of even taking him to the chiropractor but he was in so much pain and eventually he lost his balance completely.  We had no chose but to let him go.  It was a really hard time for us and having Zak helped us to move on.  It was amazing as young as he was he just knew how much we needed him.  Good news is Ky fully recovered from his surgery (TPLO) and is as good or better shape than ever, I think Zak is keeping him young.  The two dogs are really close and are able to really enjoy one another.

We will be getting another dog when the time is right.  I would want Zak to be at least 2 years old.  I don’t want to rob him of being the puppy.  When the time comes you will be hearing from us.  Zak is the soundest dog we have had to date, thank you so much for being responsible breeders.

We wish you and your family the best and have a merry Christmas.  December 8th, 2005

Hi Sharalee,

Hope your holidays are coming together and you and your family are all in good health.  I thought we would send you an update on Payton along with some pictures.

We could not be more happy with Payton.  He has been absolutely amazing.  He rode on my lap most of the way home...what a cuddle bug.  He traveled amazingly with no difficulty at all.  He played shy for the first couple of days while he adjusted to the cat, Hali and the many doggy friends that came to visit and welcome him to Red Lake.  Once he became comfortable he was just like one of the boys...running the yard, wrestling and of course...trampling my freshly groomed garden beds!  (haha)  He has learned to sit, lay down, and shake a paw to voice command and hand signals.  He is soooo smart.  It took him no longer then two days to learn each trick.  He now sleeps beside our bed out of his crate at night time and only goes in his crate when we go to work.  He has only had one night accident.  Otherwise, he comes to (my side of the bed of course) the side of the bed, puts his paw on my pillow and puts his little wet nose in my face snorting persistently until he wakes me to let him out.  He still has the odd accident in his crate, but he seems to do it as we are walking in the door...I think he gets excited!
He has made friends with the cat, and allows her to "rule the roost" so to speak. One night out of the blue, the cat came bounding out from under the table and jumped on him in an attempt to play.  Payton thought it was great, got up and tried getting her back...the cat ran at the sight of enormous paws coming at her...but the continue to play in this manor anyway.

Hali was so happy to see him when we brought him home that she cried.  She couldn't believe he was hers.  They have made great friends, and we are sure Payton thinks that he is human.  He sits nice to wait for his dinner, tries to sit in Halis car booster seat when not occupied by her, and likes to have a bath!  He will let us clip his nails and brush him with shear enjoyment.  As long as your touching him, he is happy.  He even sleeps with Hali when she has woken in the night with a bad dream.  He goes in to sleep with her and doesn't leave her until morning.  We are really amazed with him, and extremely thankful that your family came into our lives to bring us such a wonderful addition to our family.

We hope you have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!  Enjoy the pics!

Smiles...   December 2005

Hello Sharalee,

Fantastic of you to touch base with us!  Our Payton is as wonderful as the day we got him.  He is still very much a big sucky, craves attention, and loves the kids.  We had a baby in May, at which Payton was a bit jealous about at first. (He was used to much, much attention) Once the baby was around a couple of weeks he got quite attached to him.  He of course loved to lick Aiden (our son), he layed next to him if I had him on the floor, and his been very patient and gentle as Aiden has grown, become mobile and liked to use Payton as a jungle gym.  To be honest...Payton LOVES it.  It is not at all uncommon to find Aiden laying on the floor on top of Payton playing with his ears. (he like the soft feeling of them I think)

Hali of course, still has a wonderful playmate in Payton, and in fact they had a good romp in the snow this morning before school.  It seems I have three children!

Anyway,  I will indeed send you some pictures when I get to my other computer.  Thanks again for touching base, it was nice to hear from you.  I am interested in seeing your new litter!  October 2006

Hey there, Bailey is about the best dog you could ask for, she is very smart and loves to play in the tub and out in the snow.  She is still doing a little chewing on things around the house be she is getting way better except the other day she ate about $20.00 dollars in steaks but what can you do. She is definitely the type of dog that does not need to be hit just by lowering my voice she knows what I am talking about.  But don't get me wrong, she is the best. She will not bite she will just put her teeth on you and that is enough and if you say ouch she knows that she has gotten to excited.  Sierra loves her and we now have one more on the way so it is going to be a full house pretty soon.  Any way I am writing this to ask you if you had the papers for her and also about that hunting book for her. Haven't talken to you in a while so if you could write me back when you get this that would be great.
Talk to you later   February 7, 2005

Hey there  I was just writing back to tell you that the book and the papers got here the next day after I e-mailed you.  I also wanted to say thank you for the book that you sent me.  It doesn't say much about hunting but still will get me started with the basics.  Bailey is a very good dog and also very smart. When it is time to go to bed I just say go to bed and she goes up stairs and she jumps right up in to bed,  any way talk to you later and thanks again

JHi Jami and Sharalee

Commander is doing very well. She only wakes up once at night. She hasn't been whimpering or barking at all. She's perfect!!
