Thinking of giving a puppy as a gift?

1. Make sure the person receiving the puppy wants one and is ready for it's arrival.  Puppies take a lot of time to make them into good dogs.

Contrary to popular opinion, the beginning of summer holidays is not the best time to get a puppy for the family.  The puppy gets used to constant attention and then is very stressed when back to school takes the kids away and it is left alone for long periods of time.  It is better to get the puppy during the time which is most like times that are the same as what the majority of it's days will be like.

3. Kennel training a puppy is a humane and easy way to house train a puppy.  It gives the puppy it's own space where it can get away from the kids.  It gives you peace of mind if you need to go away.
